Sibu
Yours truly am driving back to Sibu tomorrow (13/10/2007). Yep, I am from Sibu.
A little bit introduction about Sibu just in case some might not know what it is. It is a town in Sarawak around 5 hours drive from Kuching.
Before it is known as Sibu, it is better known as Maling and when the third division of Sarawak is created, only then it is known as Sibu. Named after a local native fruit which is call "Buah Sibau"/ Sibau Fruit by the natives.
Then come Mr. Wong Nai Siong who lead the first batch of Foochows from China to Sibu in order to find a better life. From then onwards, it is marked as a milestone in the history of Sibu's development. Then come other batches in the search of better future.
After working in Sibu, almost all decided to settle down and call Sibu their home. From then onwards, more and more Foochows come to Sibu and settle down.
Sibu is also called New Foochow or Small Foochow as a tribute to the Foochows for their contributions to the development of Sibu.
And oh, yours truly am a pure Foochow... =p
(Not that it matters anyway...=p)
Done with the simple introduction of Sibu.

Might not update for a few days because Sibu doesn't have starbuck or cofeebean. =p
However, I heard that there's wireless connection at Sugarbun.
(Local fast food restaurant)
So, perhaps will post pictures then...
Or when I come back... =p
So stay tuned for pictures from Sibu....

never been to Sibu.. just wondering, what can actually I do in Sibu? fishing?caving?jungle treking?
ReplyDeleteTuan Rumah: Hey there. Well, there is not much to do in Sibu aside from eating. It is famous for its cheap and delicious food afterall.
ReplyDeleteHowever, there are some places that you can go, for example the Aup Jubilee Park, The Ku Tien Garden, The Lake Garden, Lover's Bridge.
