Car Stolen Alert

***Note***
Just if you want to know, I got well and healthy already. Not that anyone wants to know anyway.

Crime is definitely on the rise. Almost everyday, there are news about crimes such as murder, robbery, car-jacking and so forth. Especially with the ever so inefficient "effective and efficient" law enforcers. We need some vigilante or something. The public should be alert and be helpful in the event of crime being committed. Not that we are taking law into our own hands. That is illegal you know.

However, the sad case is that most of the general public would not care less about what happen to other people just because of the fact that it does not happen to them. They would prefer to not help or interfere in preventing crime as they are afraid that they would be in trouble. The mindset of "it does not concerns me-does not affect me -not happening to me so there is no need to worry or help" kind of thing becomes all "ME, ME, ME, ME, ME.....I, I, I, I, I".

Anyway, yours truly am not going to begin some preaching/lecture on the selfishness of humanity.

Back to the focus of this post.

Yours Truly am helping a poor soul who had his car stolen/carjacked by some bastards. I understand the feeling of having something stolen and the helplessness experienced because am unable to do anything. After all, my laptop was stolen and my car was almost carjacked.

Since it is requested by a friend, thus the purpose of this post is the spread the news around and hopefully it will be of some use. Even though the readers of this blog are countable by fingers and majority are not even from Kuching.

CAR STOLEN ALERT

White Toyota Camry

Stolen at Jalan Song, Kuching
(Singapore Chicken Rice Car park Area)

If there are any information
be a kind soul
and

Mr. Au

Picture

Do not have the picture of the car
but it is the same type as the car in the picture

One more thing ho. I do not understand what is the attraction of Jalan Song. Almost every night there are a lot and I mean A LOT of people going there not to mention the amount of cars. During holidays even worst, there are cars parked everywhere. The food there is just "mah mah tei" jek which means ok lah still can live.

There have been a lot of incidents where cars are stolen and especially where cars are broken into which is evident from the broken pieces of glasses on the ground. And yet, there are still a lot of people who park their cars at dark, hidden places. Try holding a fish in front of a cat and see whether the cat will grab for it or not. Sheeshhh.

Furthermore, there have been a lot of cases already. Where are the law enforcers? Mana? At least have some patrol cars to round the place frequently. And don't stick to a routine of patrolling the place ok? For example, every 30 minutes. Make it random because although the criminal are bastards, they are clever bastards ok? So, make it random patrol alright?

And "puh lezzzzz" (please) law enforcers, remember that IF you want to be able to catch the criminals, do not activate the blue-red lights and siren. You do know that criminals are not deaf and blind rite? Well, I am sure that is common sense but I just want to remind ya all.

I can go on and on about this but I better stop here. The main focus of this post is the stolen car. So again, be a dear and inform Mr. Au if you have any information. I have a feeling that I am spreading the news to thin air or even the news would not spread far. Low traffic mah this blog has.

Magazine Cover

I have to confess.

I am drawn to the dark side after looking at the magazine-making-attempt by 3Point8 and Levian.

Don't have a choice but to concur with the dark urge.

Have to create a magazine cover because a friend ask yours truly to edit her picture it is the right thing to do.

Presenting yours truly futile attempt at editing.

Be NICE, Don't laugh.

At least I have tried.

***Note***
The concepts are actually inspired by a few real magazine cover that I found while googling. Credits to them =p

Chap Goh Meh aka Chinese Valentine Day

Today is Chap Goh Meh (pronounced in Hokkien) literally means 15 night actually represents the 15th and the last day of the Lunar New Year according to the Lunar Calendar. In other words, the Chinese New Year officially ends.
(Yes, we Chinese have 15 days celebration of Chinese New Year. But here we only have two days public holidays).

This is the day where one get to see the first full moon of the New Year. That is IF it does not rain tonight. Traditionally, people eat "tangyuan"(rice dumplings in soup) that symbolize the unity of family members with the lighting up of lanterns.

This day is also considered as Chinese Valentine's Day. Young unmarried women would gather around and toss tangerines/oranges into the sea hoping that fate would guide their future husband to pick it up.

This is because in the olden days, young women are not allowed to go out and this night is one of the few occasions where young eligible women dressed to kill impress, were allowed to go out of their houses and perhaps find their future love.

However, nowadays I would think that it will be quite dangerous for young women to just write down their contact information on oranges and throw into the sea/river. Why? Simply because there are a lot of perverts around. Later you see perverts with huge nets to scoop up all those oranges and filter one by one. Dangerous I say.

Nowadays I wont be surprised if I saw oranges written with the following message:

filtering yo

Young women nowadays are very Internet Savvy one. At least two phone numbers with accounts in famous social networking websites such as Friendster and Facebook and even MSN.

Or even oranges with information like the following:

blogger yo

Yep, wont be surprised since blogging is considered the 'IN" thing. Is it?

I definitely will not be surprised if I see something like the following floating down the river.

Hey, if young women can throw oranges to find love. Young men too can play the game. Equality of gender remember? No gender discrimination remember?

Air Asia Website Online Check-In

I am sure by now everyone knows Air Asia. The no frills budget airline.

Am also quite sure that everyone knows they need to get in early to the airport before the boarding time to check-in and stuff. Not less are horror stories where people have to rush like hell only to find that the counter had closed.

Tonight, just now. Yours Truly tried the Air Asia Website Online Check-In for the first time. The website check-in allow you to check in and print out your boarding pass directly providing that you doesn't have check in luggage. Hand carry is ok.

This might seems like old news to those who knows already but it is a new experience for me. Yes, laugh away at my "kampung-ness". You evil evil person.
(Hey, like the saying goes: It's better to be a fool for 5 minutes than a fool forever)

Anyway, I am going to show you how the Air Asia Website Check-In functions.
(I am sure that there are bound to be someone who don't know)

REMEMBER that you can only check-in 12 hours prior and up to 2 hours before scheduled flight departure time and THAT the website online check-in is only available for Domestic flights departing from Kuala Lumpur, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, Johor Bahru and Penang.

First of all, go to the Air Asia website. Choose your location and language and you will be directed to the main homepage.

Then go to the lower left section where you will see the self check in. Click on it and at the side you will see the red button with "Web check-in now". Click on that button.

Next, you will see the Web Check-In requirements. The most important thing is that your hand carry baggage must be small not the type which you use to put your 3 weeks clothes.
REMEMBER, for Website Online Check-In you cannot have check in luggage. You can only take a hand carry baggage/luggage.

Then, after you are sure that you meet the requirements, click the blue button labeled "continue" and you will see the following:

Make sure you read all that and click on "continue" to go to the next page and you will see the following:

Tick on the check box and click on the "continue" button again and you will come to another page. REMEMBER to read the Terms and Conditions Article 8.1

After you read the friendly advice and complied with the advice click on the "continue" button and you will be directed to another page.

This time it is a form for you to FINALLY begin the check-in process. Select your origin and destination then key in your reservation number and click the "continue" button and you will be directed to another confirmation.

Tick on the both check box. To acknowledge your name and also that you understand the REMINDER. Then click on the "continue" button to go to the next confirmation page.

the details has been omitted to protect the innocent

Here, double check your departure time and date as well as your arrival time and date. Check your name to see if it is correct and then click the "continue" button to go to your last confirmation page.

Congratulations, you are now checked-in. Remember to check the details again and lastly proceed to click on the blue button labeled "Print Boarding Pass" to print out your boarding pass.
(Yes, you will need to HAVE a printer in the first place to be able to print out your boarding pass. No, it doesn't just pop out from nowhere after you click on the button.)

You will see that your boarding pass look similar like the following:

Again, details are omitted to protect the innocent

Finally, you got your very own printed Air Asia Boarding Pass. Just remember to board the plane and try to not oversleep.

Oh ya, you will see the last page when you are done.

Now, everyone can FLY Check-In.
(If you meet the requirements of course)

Bak Gua aka Dried Meat

For the Chinese New Year celebration, "Bak Gua" is almost a MUST in every celebrating household. For those who don't know, "Bak Gua" is translated into dried meat traditionally made from pork.

"Bak Gua" is also identified as the main cause or the culprit for the sudden increase of overweight people after Chinese New Year. Heck, even during the Chinese New Year the overweight symptom can be observed due to excessive consumption of "Bak Gua" combined with carbonated drinks.

"Bak Gua"- Bacon type

Yours Truly, like every normal person celebrating Chinese New Year are not spared from the sinful indulgence. Yes, sinful to health. Almost everyday, be it breakfast or lunch or dinner there is always a time where the mouth is full of "Bak Gua" and the same with the hand holding a plate full of "Bak Gua".

It doesn't helps that during visits to houses, "Bak Gua" will be automatically served and so conveniently cut to smaller pieces for easier consumptions thus increasing the temptation.

"Bak Gua"-Smaller pieces

Not willing to be outdone by some mere "Bak Gua", Yours Truly bought some "Bak Gua" made from chicken and cuttlefish which theoretically should contain less fat. Triumph over "Bak Gua". Am beaming with pride now.
BenardCometh-1 & Bak Gua-0.

Chicken "Bak Gua"

Cuttlefish "Bak Gua"

However, "Bak Gua" is not to be trifled with. The chicken and cuttlefish "Bak Gua" taste like pork and even as greasy as the traditional pork "Bak Gua". Arghhhhhh.
BenardCometh-1 & Bak Gua-2.

Yours Truly will never admit defeat to some mere "Bak Gua". No, he definitely won't. So, he came up with the last struggle. An innovation that would be so creative and practical have to be created.

Made from 100% vegetable with high fiber which helps in digestive problems and not to mention 100% healthier than the traditional "Bak Gua". The Revolutionary "Vege Gua".
BenardCometh-2 & Bak Gua-2.

It's a tie and from the looks of it. "Bak Gua" will be defeated soon. Just a matter of time. Yes, a matter of time.

This leaves me no choice but to admit defeat.
Like the saying goes,
If you cant beat them, join them.

Gimnasium Rakyat aka People's Gym @ Kuching

***UPDATES***
The opening hours has changed again. Seems like they don't know how to make up their mind. Such indecisiveness. =p.

***Let me warn ya.***
This is a post about health and fitness. For those who doesn't care or those couch potatoes may opt to not continue reading. Thank You.

Before I start, let me take a moment of your time to shamelessly promote my other posts on topics related to health and fitness. I am no expert on being healthy, getting fit and all but I AM a tad OVERWEIGHT who is trying his best to keep fit without controlling the amount of food intake.

Firstly the Health Tips
Secondly the Yet Another Health Tips
Lastly the Fitness

Anyway, one of my resolution for the new year is to go to the gym at least once a week for the entire year. Been going to the Gimnasium Rakyat. Direct translation would be People's Gym. One of the biggest motivation of going to the gym is for the fact that it is FREE.
(You see, I don't see the point of paying people to inflict pain and make your whole body sore. Nope, am not the SM type. Since its free, why not?)

People's Gym

The gym is operated under the Ministry of Youth and Sports. In Kuching, it is at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Complex located near Saberkas or just beside the UNIMAS medical faculty. In other words, it is operated by the government which also can be translated to funded by the people. From the tax and stuff contributed to the government, remember? Hence the name People's Gym. I suppose.

Which also means all of ya are paying for me gym sessions. Well, not only me but for all the citizen of Malaysia. So, are you utilizing it? Go to your nearest People's Gym from now on. Get healthy and stay healthy.
(Since it is FREE, be warned that at times it will be PACKED with all those health conscious people.)

That explained. Time for pictures. The gym have an array of gym equipments which I think is sufficient for a whole body workout.

However, you are required to fill in a form for record before using the gym. After you registered, before each session, there is a log book that you need to fill in.

People's gym attendance registration book

Fill in your details

The opening/operating hours of the gym are shown in the following picture.

Sushi King @ The Spring

Hajime Mashite,

This post would be quite outdated as I am sure there are many blogs that have already blogged about this. Nevertheless, this is a post on Sushi King at The Spring, Kuching.

Went to Sushi King for a few times already and only today I manage to take pictures which indirectly says my Canon Powershot A70 is back. Repaired. No charges as the camera is manufactured faulty.

The exact name of the problem is the "Image Phenomena Due To CCD Malfunction". Lets see how long it will last before it broke down again like the previous few times. If its not for the friendly customer service, I would have complained on and on about it non-stop.

Back to the post. Sushi King. So far, there are two Sushi King outlets in Kuching. One is located at the Spring and the other one is located at Boulevard.

The "considerable" famous logo

When you enter Sushi King, you will hear the staffs there shouting their lungs out to welcome the customers. If one doesn't know it, it is as if they are scolding the customers for entering. Order green tea while waiting for your order as it compliments sushi. In other words, green tea is a MUST. Prepare your sauce and as with green tea, wasabi paste is a MUST when eating sushi. At least for me anyway.

Belongs to Sushi King

Aside from ordering from the menu for set meals, you can take your pick from the revolving sushi belt/the conveyor belt. After all, Sushi King is famous for its Kaiten Sushi aka Revolving Sushi.

Alright, lets move on with the some pictures of food. Like the saying goes, "A picture is worth a thousand words."

Saba BBQ Set (RM19.90)
Deep fried mackerel in BBQ sauce with mixed vegetables served with egg custard, miso soup, steamed rice and ice cream

Saba Misoni Set (RM18.90)
Simmered mackerel in miso soup with french beans & eggplants, served with mixed vegetable salad with crabsticks, miso soup, steamed rice and ice cream.

Unagi (RM6)
This is my all-time favorite. Yes, I like eel.

Tori Karaage (RM3)
Crispy, Me likey

Tako (RM3)
Octopus, Me likey 2

Spicy Tuna Roll (RM3)
Acceptable

Sake (RM4)
What is sushi without raw salmon and I thought Sake is Japanese Rice Wine?

Sake Mayo Maki (RM3)
Sesame seeds, Me likey 3

Sake Kawa Temaki (RM3)
Acceptable

Mamakari (RM3)
Nice name. Like scolding people. Mamakari you ah

Kani Mayo (RM2)
Acceptable

Inari (RM3)
Another all-time favorite. Sweet

Inari Sandwich (RM3)
Acceptable
I prefer my Inari without Sandwich

Egg Mayo (RM2)
Acceptable

Ebikko (RM4)
Yet another all-time favorite. Yum yum

Deep Fried Scallops (RM4)
Acceptable

Chuka Iidako Bowl (RM6)
Baby Octopus is in favorite list. Yum yum

California Temaki (RM4)
Acceptable

.......................................................................................

Lastly, picture of the aftermath

........................................................................

There, done with the pictures. If you noticed, I am tried to remember all the sushi names and the price just for you guys. Luckily I have photographic memory, well that and also having pictures of the menu helps.

Below is the pricing for the Kaiten Sushi. It is priced according to the color of the plate.

RM2 - Blue Plate
RM3 - Beige/Brown Plate
RM4 - Pink Plate
RM5 - Red Plate
RM6 - Purple Plate

Lastly, there is a government charge of 5% and service charge of 10% of the bill's total.

Happy Sushi-ing.

Ja Owarida.
