Ghost Story

This is supposed to be a post on Halloween but it seems that it is a bit late. However, better late than never right?

Halloween is not that celebrated in Malaysia if compared to those in western countries, at least not in Sarawak. You might get some pubs or hotels doing some events for the day but never large scale as to go treat or tricking and stuff.

So, Halloween usually represented by those "ang moh"(western) ghosts such as vampires, werewolves, mummy, and many more with vampires being the popular choice. Immortality anyone?

Anyway, since it is related to the supernaturals, it would just be natural that I delve around that topic. Anyone up for some supernatural stories? Ghost stories?

I had my share of the supernaturals or ghosts some of you might say. I supposed I had because all the events are not that clear to me. As if I am dreaming or something.

Encounter 1

When I was young (many many years ago), I always have feeling where suddenly I can't move or even shout as if something big and heavy is sitting on top of me. Ever get that feeling? I dismiss it as just maybe I am too tired. However there is this one time...................................

I actually saw some shadow or something lurking at the corner of my room and as I try to focus it began to grow bigger and move towards me slowly. I can't really see what is the thing and then just when I want to shout out loud, suddenly i froze for no reason at all and the shadow began to turn and I can almost see the sinister smile it had.

The shadow crept up to me and I can actually feel it moving up while I can't move a muscle. Just when it nearly come face to face with me, it disappears just like that. Up until now I can't really explain what happened.

Encounter 2

When my grandfather died, I am way too young to remember him. I know how does he looks like but I never remembered if we ever talked. My brothers and I used to share the same room when we were young. (I have two younger brothers who is one year younger and they are twins). So, there is this one night suddenly one of my brothers called me to accompany him to the toilet but i refused and after the other brother called me to accompany them to the toilet.

I still refused and starting to get very irritated. ( I am the kind of person that you would not want to disturb when i am sleeping. =p). However, they are persistent and I tell them that both of them can accompany each other to the toilet but they still refused.

When asked why? They replied, "We saw grandfather sitting in the living room looking us, smiling and waving his hand". When I go out with them, I did not see anything but I think I noticed that my brothers are scared and that I feel some chilling breeze.

The next morning, I realized that last night is the night of the seventh day after my grandfather died. You see, Chinese have this belief that the dead always comes back to visit their relatives the night of the seventh day after they passed away.

Encounter 3

There is this one time when I was sleeping, suddenly I woke up sweating and my heart beating very fast. I don't have any nightmares and the air con is on full blast. Just as I want to close my eyes, suddenly I saw or felt a white ghostly figure moving towards the air con (that time am using the window unit). I fell asleep soon afterwards.

The next morning, I asked around who turn off the air con as it is off when I wake up. Guess what, nobody turn off the air con. And no, there is no timer to off for that model at that time. It still remain a mystery to me. Supernatural? Might be.

So, that is a few stories that I can remember. Personal experience.

Have you ever experienced the supernatural? Seen ghosts?

Do you even believe that there are ghosts around?

Left Or Right Brain Personality Test

***Updates: I have just realized that I had posted similar post before. Thanks Katherine for pointing it out. (proves that you DO follow my posts eh. Thanks).
Darn, I think the age factor is beginning to creep up to me. You know, the memory fades with age thingy. Noooo, I am still too young to be old... Nooooooo~~~~
However, the previous post doesn't have pictures as example. Yep, I am trying to justify my mistake.. =p)***

Brains again. Looks like I am fascinated with brains. Anyway, there is this Left Brain or Right Brain Test post previously to test whether you use more of the left side or the right side.

(Some even commented that the picture is altered and that it is a trick to fool the eyes.)

So, this is a personality test that determine which type of personality you have. It might be accurate and might be not but just give it a try for the fun of it. =p

First of all, you will need to identify which side of the brain you use. This will be done in two parts and the combination of the results will show you which type of personality you have.

PART 1
...............
Hold your hands together, as if you were praying then look at your hands.
If you see

Left thumb is below the right thumb -----left brain
Right thumb is below the left thumb------- right brain

Example:
As you can see, my right thumb is below the left thumb
So, for the first part it is right brain
(I even do the labeling just in case some of you doesn't know how to differentiate, =p)

PART 2
...................
Fold your arms in front of you

Right arm above left arm------left brain
Left arm above right arm-------right brain

Example:
As you can see, my right arm is above the left arm
So, for the second part it is left brain

My combination is Right+Left
...........................................................

Now, what does that mean?

Based on 1+2 (the order is important), below is the interpretation of your personality:

Right+Left
Considerate, traditional, indirect type

Can instinctively read other's emotion, and respond friendly by natures.
Although not very into taking initiatives in moving forward, but this person will always take a step back in supporting others.
Stable personality and considerate, give others a being protected feeling.
But the weakness is they cannot say no; regardless how unwilling they are, they will take care of others.

Right+Right
Loves challenges, Straightforward type.

Once they decided on one thing, will take action right away.
Very curious, and love challenges. Dare to face dangers without thinking through (sometimes foolishly).
Their weakness is they don't listen to others, will filter in only what whey want to hear in a conversation, and very subjective.
However, because of their straightforward attitude, they tend to be fairly popular.

Left+Left
Dedicated, cold, perfectionist type

Very logical in all aspects.
The only way to defeat (or win over) him/her is through reasons.
Has a lot of prides, and feeling strongly about doing the right thing.
If they are your friends, they are very trustworthy.
However, if they are your opponents, they will be very tough to deal with.
Because they can be very 'anal' as a perfectionist, they usually leave a bad impression of being hard to deal with when first met.

Left+Right
Likes to take care of others, leader type.

Has a cool and keen observation ability to see through situations, yet still can be considerate in others needs.
Because of their cool and calm nature, and strong sense of responsibility, they tend to become head of a group.
Popular among people.
However, they may not be able to help themselves in meddling because they want to take care of others too much.
Very concerned about how others view them, and always on alert.

I am the Right-Left and that makes me considerate, very friendly, supportive, give people protective feeling, likes to take care of others. Cannot say NO? So, remember not to ask anything of me ya.... You know I can't say NO. =p
(If the test is true I mean)

So, how about you? What is your type? Is it accurate?

Check Your Google Page Rank

As shown above, BenardCometh Revelations now officially got Google Page Rank 3. Yes, you did not hear or see it wrong, Google Page Rank 3.

All this thanks to the not-so-many BenardCometh Revelations loyal readers.

Thank You

(Mandarin)

(Foochow)
Mmm Goi Sai
(Cantonese)

Kam Sia

(Hokkien)

Kamsahamida

(Korean, sounds like hokkien if pronounced without the -hamida)

Now, I don't really know what does Google Page Rank do or how the rankings are calculated but I heard that the higher the better for reasons that is beyond me.

Normally I would not be bothered to check stuff like this but when I went to Loon Design, I can't resist the urge to test it myself. Anyway, Loon also got himself a Page Rank 3 which personally I think he deserve higher than that.

He is the kind of person who have talents but normally doesn't have much confidence in what he is doing so initially this blog (the first version is using wordpress) is created to encourage and gives confidence to what he is doing.
(Not that I have much confidence anyway)

Once he got started, he finds that it's all in him all this while. What he needed is just that little nudge to discover what he can do.

Alright, enough praising or else I risk myself of being mistakenly seen as gay. =p
(Not that I have anything against gays or lesbians- To each, his or her own preferences I say)

So, ever wondered what is the Google Page Rank for your blog or website?

I added the Page Rank Checking Tool below for your convenience.

Happy Checking.

Elusive Giraffe

If you still remember, there is this previous post about a test on whether you are using more of your right brain or more of your left brain.

A test with a seemingly naked girl spinning picture.

Suppose it indicates that there are things that some people can see and some can't see depending on their brain functions.

So, I come across a picture with similar nature.

Inside, is this elusive giraffe that according to legend, only a few chosen ones are able to get a glimpse of it.

Now, the question is:

You feel LUCKY?

Cooking

Cooking is never my forte. The type of food that I can make is limited to those that can be fried and instant noodle type.

However, suddenly I got this urge to cook something for dinner. Something NOT fried. It is one of those spontaneous stuffs that most people do now and then. (I think so, at least I am)

Cooking shouldn't be that hard and being hungry helps. There is this book that I saw somewhere that says anyone can cook.

Heck, if a RAT can do it, for sure there is no problem for me.
Yes, I Chef Benard.

So, this chef decide to make spaghetti which is called the Cometh Cheese Mussel Spaghetti.

Lets go on with the preparation, shall we?

..............................................................
Cometh Cheese Mussel Spaghetti
..............................................................

RAW INGREDIENTS
...............................

The Pasta
(Of course you need this to make spaghetti)

Tomato Puree
(Needed to make the sauce)

Minced Beef
(One of the ingredient in the sauce)

Minced chicken meat
(Ingredient for the sauce)

Button Mushroom
(Ingredient for the sauce)

Oyster
(Ingredient for the sauce)

Mussel
(This will be used as the toppings)

Cheese
(I use slices of cheese. I think there are other types of cheese to use but I just simply grab as long as it is cheese)

**note that the ingredients are random and not given much consideration when picked- not a good cook remember?**

COOKING METHOD
(How I do it)
....................................

First of all, boil some water in a cooking pot/pan

Then when it boils, add some salt in order to make the pasta tastier

The pasta should be ready after 13 to 15 minutes

While waiting for the pasta, prepare the sauce

Use the tomato puree and heat it over small fire in a cooking pot

Prepare some garlics and stir fry the minced beef and minced chicken meat
(I am carnivorous)

Beef first, then chicken meat, then the mushroom
(add some black pepper powder)

After it smells nice, pour all of it into the cooking pot containing the tomato puree

Make sure the fire is not too big, make it just enough to heat the sauce

Boil the oysters and mussels until they are cooked

After that, put the oysters into the sauce

Stir fry the mussels with cheese
(Amount of cheese depends on the cook- i used two slices)

Mussels with cheese

After that, the pasta should be done already

Drain the water and put the pasta into a bowl

Put cheese into the sauce and stir a bit until it melts

Then pour the sauce onto the pasta

Arrange the mussels on top

DONE

Cometh Cheese Mussel Spaghetti

Alright, I agree that it does not look that nice or tasty but believe me it does taste good.

There is this drink that I tried, Soy Bean drink. This V-Soy is damn nice. I am going to stick to this type of soy bean drink from now onwards.

Talking about drinks, there is this time during one of my spontaneous urge, I made the Banana Choco Walker Delight. (Am I creative with the naming part or what... =p)

That is it.

Left Brain or Right Brain Test

Came across this at Boonage. Quite interesting.

It is a test to see whether you are left brain user or right brain user or both.

Look at the picture of a spinning girl below. She is spinning clockwise or anti-clockwise?

If you see her spinning clockwise then you are using more of your right brain.

If you see her spinning anti-clockwise then you are using more of your left brain.

If you focus more and finds that it spins the opposite side means that by focusing, you can use the other side of your brain.
(This is not stated at Boonage but this is what I think. =p)

So, what does right brain or left brain indicates?

....................................................

LEFT BRAIN FUNCTIONS

uses logic

detail oriented
facts rule
words and language
present and past
math and science
can comprehend
knowing
acknowledges
order/pattern perception
knows object name
reality based
forms strategies
practical
safe

...........................................................

RIGHT BRAIN FUNCTIONS

uses feeling

“big picture” oriented
imagination rules
symbols and images
present and future
philosophy & religion
can “get it” (i.e. meaning)
believes
appreciates
spatial perception
knows object function
fantasy based
presents possibilities
impetuous
risk taking

I am a left brain user but when I focus, the girl will spin clockwise which means I can use my right brain also, correct?

So, that means I use both sides of my brains
............................
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

In conclusion, I use my brain.
(Doesn't need a rocket scientist to guess that)
=p

So, which side of your brain that you use most of the time?
(Of course I know you always use your brain, I mean WHICH side? =p)

Comments

I have enabled comment moderation for BenardCometh Revelation. It's not that I am trying to prevent all of ya from commenting or something.

I have always believed in freedom of speech and by freedom of speech, I meant that those who speaks out honestly and be proud of who he or she is. Not those who hide behind anonymous or false name and only then gained the "courage" to speak up.

Why am I posting this? Well, lets say there are critics that are from unknown origin and this post serve as an announcement that I will always publish your comments providing that you use your own identity, your own name.
(But please, let there be no name calling, and excessive swearing. Alright?)
(Even if you do that, I will still approve providing that you are truly you, with an identity, a name. Hey, if you choose to make a fool of yourself that way, who am I to prevent it?)

That clears things up?

On a different note, one of the critics (surprising that an unknown blog like mine attracts quite some criticism. Anonymous criticisms that is) says that my grammar is horrible which I find quite funny. Who died and make this guy/gal the language professor?

But then, I admit that my level of English usage is not THAT good. Heck, I don't even converse well in English. Broken English can lah with limited vocabulary. So, any constructive feedbacks are always welcomed. T0 improve on my weakness, so to say.

Anyway, language is used as a communication tool in order for humans to understand each other. So, as long as one can understand what others are trying to say, that in my opinion is good enough.

Now to think of it, the reason why I only have a few loyal readers is because nobody understand my posts? Woh, that hit me hard. Real hard. I am very down. Very very down.

I need me some private tutoring for English and rest assured that I learn fast. Real fast. So, anyone interested in giving me private tutoring? For free.

And please bear in mind that I will only accept private tutoring from girls.

Help out a guy who is very poor in English and very very down will ya?
(Reminder: Guys BUZZ off)

Chocolate

I am sure everyone likes chocolates. Who on Earth doesn't like chocolates????
(Even if there are, I refuse to believe it. =p)

Everyone like chocolates and for some extreme ones, chocolate is their food, their religion, the very essence of life itself.

Alright, I might have exaggerated a bit there but it is just to emphasize that chocolates is very irresistible. After all it is not called the food of the gods for nothing.

Besides, many claim that chocolate have many benefits. There is this research that shows that there is a substance called phenylethylamine found in chocolate and seems to trigger feelings similar to falling in love. Chocolate also tingle the taste buds and when taste buds are excited, endorphins are released from the brain. Endorphin are the body's feel good chemical.

Aztec legend Montezuma drank chocolate drink before visiting his wives. And by visiting, I do not mean that they just sit down and have a chit chat but to.........*wink* *wink*. You get what I mean. So, chocolate is regarded as a potent aphrodisiac.
(Guys, now you know what to get or eat when you and your partner are alone together.)

Aside from that, some research shows that there is this craving for chocolate by women when premenstrual food cravings surface. This is because chocolate contains high levels of magnesium and women experience magnesium deficiency prior to menstruation.
(Gals, now you know what reason to give to get more chocolates.)

From a study conducted at Harvard University, there is a correlation between eating a moderate amount of chocolate and longevity. The study shows that those who eat one to three chocolate bars a month had a 36% lower risk of death than those who doesn't eat.
(Another reason to be used by all of ya chocolate lovers.)

So, what are you waiting for? Chocolate is good for you, MMMMMMKayyyyy.

However, as with everything else. Moderation is the key. Eat chocolate in moderation and you are good to go. Too much of anything is bad.
(So, if you have too much chocolate or money, feel free to send em to me. I am willing to take the burden and suffer the consequences for you. )

As with the Cantonese saying, "Ngor Pat Yap Dei Yuk, Shui Yap Dei Yuk". Rite?

..................................................................................

Done with the introductions, lets move on with some photos. I was in Labuan for around 3 years and in case you don't know, Labuan is a free tax haven for stuff like alcohol and chocolates.
(Will make a post on alcohol next time.)

Some of the chocolates photos.
(Most of the time did not take photos because busy eating. Yes, it is THAT irresistible.)

Sibu Authentic Foochow Food

~I AM BACK~

In case you don't know, yours truly went back to Sibu for the Raya holidays to visit his grandma. One of the perks of being a Malaysian is that there are lots of holidays due to the multicultural nature of Malaysia.
(There are 3 major celebrations and a few smaller ones according to the different states. To know more about the coming public holidays, go to Malaysia 2008 Holidays.)

So, what to do in Sibu? Aside from eating, there is not much to do. Sibu is quite famous for its cheap and mouth-watering foods.

It is a quite laid back town where life flows at its own slow pace. Good place to relax and unwind although at times life there seems monotonous with all the routine activities.

Lets move on with the photos.

...............................................
Center of the Sibu Town
(At around 3am in the morning)

.................................................
Early morning
(Still misty)

.......................................................................

Food
............................................................
Kampua Mee

(It is noodle served with slices of pork)

This is the kampua mee at Rasa Sayang Cafe located at the Sibu new bus station
(Good but not that authentic though, looks like Kolo mee)

.................................................................

This is the best kampua in Sibu I think. It's at a coffee shop at Jalan Selemo.
(The noodle is hand made on the spot and taste real good)

..............................................................................

Another famous local dish is the Dian Meng Ngu.
(It is a kind of thin sliced noodle made of rice served with fish ball and veggies)

This the dian meng ngu at Chop Hing Huong
(the most famous place to have dian meng ngu in Sibu)
RM2

..............................................................
...............................................................

Next up is the Kompia
(This is also a must eat when you are in Sibu)

Kompia is normally eaten dry without any ingredient, however you can also get kompia with meat and as in the picture, served with sauce.
(It is located at Tiong Hua Road)
RM1
.......................................

This is the plum drink at the same place
(Normally ordered together with the kompia)
Rm1

.....................................................................

Done with the 3 most popular Foochow food in Sibu.

Next up is the most delicious authentic Foochow food by my grandmother.
(She is a pure Foochow and any food cooked by my grandmother is considered authentic Foochow food in my dictionary. Even if it is spaghetti, as long as it is cooked by my grandmother, it is Foochow food. =p)

My grandmother is a very good cook. So far, I haven't tasted any food that taste better than the ones she prepared.

**Please note that the following food, you will never have the chance to taste unless you go back Sibu together with me. =p**
.............................................................
Spare Rib Dish
(Pork with sesame seeds and pineapple)

.......................................................................
Duck Dish
(Duck meat with red rice seasoning)

................................................................
Bai Guo Gang (Soup)
(Don't know what this is called but it is something made of rice and served with chicken and mushroom soup)

Long Bean Dish
(Even plain and simple long bean dish is delicious)

....................................................................

That is it, some of the food consumed when I am in Sibu.
