Bak Gua aka Dried Meat

For the Chinese New Year celebration, "Bak Gua" is almost a MUST in every celebrating household. For those who don't know, "Bak Gua" is translated into dried meat traditionally made from pork.

"Bak Gua" is also identified as the main cause or the culprit for the sudden increase of overweight people after Chinese New Year. Heck, even during the Chinese New Year the overweight symptom can be observed due to excessive consumption of "Bak Gua" combined with carbonated drinks.

Yours Truly, like every normal person celebrating Chinese New Year are not spared from the sinful indulgence. Yes, sinful to health. Almost everyday, be it breakfast or lunch or dinner there is always a time where the mouth is full of "Bak Gua" and the same with the hand holding a plate full of "Bak Gua".

It doesn't helps that during visits to houses, "Bak Gua" will be automatically served and so conveniently cut to smaller pieces for easier consumptions thus increasing the temptation.

Not willing to be outdone by some mere "Bak Gua", Yours Truly bought some "Bak Gua" made from chicken and cuttlefish which theoretically should contain less fat. Triumph over "Bak Gua". Am beaming with pride now.

However, "Bak Gua" is not to be trifled with. The chicken and cuttlefish "Bak Gua" taste like pork and even as greasy as the traditional pork "Bak Gua". Arghhhhhh.
