Dear Santa, I am sure by now you are relaxing somewhere exotic with exotic dancers at the background while enjoying the view with a glass of magically refillable martini or something since your work is done for the year. No need to rush into next year's work aye? After all there are like 12 months to go till your next round of reindeer riding and chimney entries. Anyway, I just realized that I have not written a letter to you since like forever. Somehow, tonight there is an urge to write you a letter. I will just make it short. Alright, so I am late this year compared to last year . Normally I would be posting this up before Puasa started. Forgive me for not doing so this year. I have pressing matters at hand, so to speak. Anyway, for the uninitiated it is the time of the year where all muslim started to fast. It is RAMADHAN month. Yep, they fast for a whole month. Like last year, I am looking forward to the Ramadhan Bazaar  or the Pasar Ramadhan. That is where all the glorious food will be at. All conveniently located at one place. One can literally eat till you drop providing you have the moolah of course. So, back to the focus. The Waktu Imsak and Berbuka Puasa for year 2010. Today is Chap Goh Meh translated as the Fifteenth Night represents the final day of the Lunar New Year, the Chinese New Year. And yes, we celebrate Chinese New Year for 15 days. Ahem. The fifteenth night is the night where one can see the first full moon of the New Year. That means tonight you will be able to see a full moon and its the first full moon of the year. Ox Moon yo. And oh, today is also considered the Chinese Valentine's Day. So, you lover birds. More excuse to celebrate another Valentine's Day aye?  On this day, girls would go and throw mandarin oranges or tangarines into the river and guys would go and pick em up. Deepavali is a festival celebrated by all Hindus globally which is also known as the Festival of Lights since there will be many colorful lights lit on that day. Aside from that, maybe it is called the Festival of Light that indicates the triumph of light, the good over the evil. There is an interesting legend regarding the triumph of good over evil. Long time ago in the kingdom of Pradyoshapuram, there lived a demon called Narakasura who rule the land with fear. A lot of the people suffered hardship and life is terribly bad and harsh. Then come Lord Krishna who destroy the demon and the day Narakasura died becomes celebrated as Deepavali, the Festival of Light where the good triumph over evil. Today is Deepavali. Well, tomorrow is the fifth day of the fifth month in the Chinese Lunar calendar which indicates that it is " Duan Wu Jie " aka Rice Dumpling Festival. From the name, it is obvious that Rice Dumplings or " Zong Zi " are eaten during this festival. That is why it is called the Rice Dumpling Festival. Well, there is quite an interesting story behind the festival of which I have already posted last year in the post titled " HAPPY RICE DUMPLING FESTIVAL aka DRAGON BOAT FESTIVAL ". Today is the only time where you can just throw a smelly rotten egg on your friend and get away with it by yelling "APRIL FOOL" suckers. Wait, no you don't.
